30% of cancer hubs 'lack doctors'

Nearly 30 percent of 47 prefectural cancer "hub'' hospitals lack anesthesiologists or surgeons, an Asahi Shimbun survey has found. The shortage of the specialized doctors, which has also hit general hospitals, is affecting the quality of cancer care, the survey found. Some institutions said they had cut the number of operations or extended waiting periods. The 47 hospitals, located in each prefecture except Hokkaido, Shiga and Kagawa, offer the most advanced treatment in each prefecture. The survey, conducted in April and May, received 45 responses. Medical care in Japan has faced a difficult phase. The article which I've cited is just one case of all medical care problems.Another problem is that the number of doctors engaged in pediatric and maternity department has been decreasing. This tendency is clear in the country. Some pregnant women have to look for another doctor before childbirth.The other problem is that the number of nurses has also been decreasing. It is said that this is becase the working environment is really bad. Therefore, people do not want to work as a nurse. To solve this problem, the government try to hire nurses from overseas. Immigrants will be hired. However, it is unknown whether the bad working condition will change or not. If not, immigrants will have to work in a bad condition, which means that the government violates human rights.
