Small Talk No.1

Hi! How have you been? This is ISSEI.

I drank with some of my friends on Feb 17. Gicchan (One of my old friends) held the drinking party. Well, we don't usually do something special. We do small talks with some drinks. The same was true on that day. We just talked and drank, and after that we ate Ramen. Though there were fewer people than we expected, it was really fun.

By the way, my daily rythem has been goint of order. I wake up afternoon, eat only twice a day (Three times is ideal for me), and stay up late. I think it's bad, so I decided to try to fix it. However, I noticed I was bored for want of occupation. I mean I have few things to do. This makes me lazy. When I wake up late, I feel like I must do something quickly. But when I get up early, I feel I have so much time that I don't have to do it right now. Which makes me lazy and do nothing until afternoon. This is my problem...

go downtown to do a little stuff

Hi! This is ISSEI.

Well, it's getting warmer and warmer in Japan. I remember that it was much colder about this time in my childhood. Is this an effect of global warming??? Well, I'm rather worried about the coming Spring because I have a hay fever...

By the way, I've recently been moving around to do a little stuff like shopping, drinking, and mailing a fee for an examination. Well, they sound trivial things, I know.

The other day, I went downtown. It's Namba (located in Osaka, Japan). The main purpose of this short trip is to cancel my credit card. It seems like someone had stolen my money by using my data, so I wanted to stop it. Well, I didn't know that when a credit card is canceled, it is cut (literally). It's interesting. After doing so, I went to a book store to check the current trend. You know, books reflect the hot topics covered by the media. The main topic a short time aga was povery, and now it is Mr. Obama. Even in Japan, he is really famous. At the book store, I bought some English books.

And I had to mail a fee to take an examination for trading. Probably you might think, "Why don't you use your credict card?" Yeah, I had one, but they didn't accept it. It seems like they receive fees through wire transfer. I hadn't remit money by cable, so it took me some time. While I'm doing it, a child was screaming behind me! "Shut up!", I said in heart.

On my way home, I suddenly thought I hadn't watched any movie for several years. So, I decided to drop by at a rental shop. At first I wanted to rent a movie, but I decided to rent a TV series. Finally I chose "Friends." Um... it's really old. Well, but it's really funny, so I don't care.

Oh! I'm starving! I'll eat something. See ya!

Long Time No See/ TOEIC

I've been away from writing any article. I've been so busy that I couldn't do so. I was seeking a job. The job search was really tough on me. Well, fortunately, I got a job. I'm going to do trading business. I'll start to work since in April, 2009.

Now I have much time to write, so I'll try to keep doing so as much as possible.

As you know, the new year has started and now it's mid-February. I think I should do something good to me. First, I decided to take an English efficiency test, TOEIC. TOEIC stands for Test of English for International Communication. In Japan, it's considered as a test to evaluate how good examinees' business English is. Since I'm gonna do trading business, I should learn it.

I think TOEIC is not so difficult. I took a sham exam and I got well over 900 points (The maximum is 990). TOEIC is made up for 200 equestions and is divided into two parts: listening section and reading one. I prefer the latter because I'm not good at listening. Well, the speed of TOEIC English is slow, so I can catch it.

I know that the real English is not so slow as TOEIC one. So, I've started watching a TV series like Friends. Plus, I make it a rule to watch news programs such as CBS, CNN and ABC news. My favorit one is CNN student news because it's scripts are available on the site, which enables me to make sure whether I did understand the contents.

I'm surprised at how much time I spend on studying English! Well, I can't speak well, though.

Sometimes, I think why I can't speak well. One of the reasons must be because I'm not able to catch what speakers say. But, you know, you don't have to catch all the things to know what they want to tell me about. True, I understand most of the contents. It's from 70% to 90%. So, I guess a major reason is that I don't have things to talk about. This is what I have to overcome, I think.

Oh, it's time to sleep. It's about 2:00 AM here in Japan.

See you later : )
